DRS is looking for a Gender and Social Consultant for a Management Consulting firm that is committed to supporting the social, economic, and environmental development of the Caribbean. The Organization develops consultancy and implementation of funded projects, which involve actions related to combating violence and discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and achieving equality between women and men as development partners and beneficiaries.

Job Title:                     Gender and Social Consultant

Contract:                       2-year contract

Location:                     Saint Lucia/ Guadeloupe

Starting date:              as soon as possible

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Gender components of contracts and projects related to public and civil society governance, climate change, water and waste management, and sustainable economic development:

  • Strengthening the capacity of national gender equality mechanisms at all levels with sustainable and adequate funding and scaled-up, voluntary technology transfer, including through national budget allocations and official development assistance.
  • Promote the full, equal, and meaningful participation and leadership of young women and, as appropriate, adolescent girls in decision-making processes by addressing gender-specific barriers, ensuring their full and equal access to quality education, technology and skills development, leadership and mentorship programs, increased technical and financial support, and protection from all forms of violence and discrimination.
  • Develop and implement awareness and training programs on issues related to the reduction of gender inequalities and the fight against GBV for various audiences: civil servants, social workers, teachers and children, and CSOs.

The consultant will primarily work on a grant-funding program fighting Gender-based violence in Saint Lucia and in the OECS region.

Work with social sector and government organizations to improve the lives of citizens by helping solve the most pressing economic and social challenges

  • Work with the Department’s Director to design and implement a gender and social sector-specific growth strategy.
  • Lead public and social sector management consulting missions for Caribbean organizations, with teams of in-house consultants and associated experts: sector analysis, governance diagnosis, reorganization, regional cooperation strategy, policy development, development of monitoring tools, focus group animation, etc
  • Develop and implement Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) impact assessment and action plans within contracts and projects implemented by the Company.

Contribute to Company’s growth:

  • Actively seek business and funding opportunities in the areas of gender, social, and public sector management consulting in the Caribbean.
  • With NGO teams, contribute to the development of technical proposals in response to tenders and call for proposals.
  • Develop and manage partnerships, both with potential clients and with high-potential Caribbean suppliers (individual experts, companies).
  • Carry out exploratory and fact-finding missions to ensure visibility, business development, and partnership building.
  • Participate in the life of the company/group through active participation in crosscutting communication, capitalization, and experience-sharing activities.

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 4 years of overall work experience in Management consulting, International Development, or the Public/Government sector.
  • At least 2 years of experience in implementing Gender and Environment Governance components in international development projects.
  • Strong analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Proven training skills, especially with CSOs.
  • Experience in conferences / public interventions on gender and social management issues.
  • Strong capacity to develop and implement practical tools (guides, methodologies, etc.) targeting a specific audience.
  • Strong regional/in-country networks.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Excellent spoken and written communication in English, a working level of knowledge of French and Spanish.
