Description

A) Resident Engineer / Construction Phase Team Leader 1 + 12 + 2 man/months  (full time during construction phase + 1 month before the beginning of the construction phase  + 2 person/months during DLP).

The candidate for this position must be a qualified senior engineer and should demonstrate sound experience in supervision of water supply, distribution and sanitation networks of Works' contracts. S/he should possess oral and written communication skills and have worked on at least three similar projects in the past ten years. Specifically, he/she should have the following qualifications:

  1. BSc degree in Civil/Hydraulic/Sanitary engineering, MSc or post-graduate degree in Civil/Hydraulic/Sanitary engineering will be an added advantage;
  2. At least ten years post qualification working experience in the supervision of similar works;
  3. At least five years of experience in internationally financed project environment, with at least one contract with Experience with FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
  4. Should have strong computer skills.
  5. Work experience in the Sub-Saharan African countries; working experience in Angola will be a plus.
  6. Should possess good working communication skills in English; knowledge of Portuguese will be a plus.

B) Assistant of Resident Engineer (full time during construction phase).

The candidate for this position must be a qualified engineer and should demonstrate sound experience in supervision of water supply bulk systems and distribution networks of Works' contracts. S/he should possess oral and written communication skills and have worked on at least two similar projects in the past five years. Specifically, he/she should have the following qualifications:

  1. BSc degree in Civil/Hydraulic/Sanitary engineering, MSc or post-graduate degree in Civil/Hydraulic/Sanitary engineering will be an added advantage;
  2. At least five years post qualification working experience in the supervision of similar works;
  3. Should have strong computer skills.
  4. Should possess good working communication skills in English; knowledge of Portuguese will be a plus.

Consultancy Services for Design Checking and works Supervision of the Water Supply remedial works interventions in the cities of Cuito, Huambo and Lubango – Angola.

The scope of works will include all the required interventions in bulk water supply systems and distribution water supply systems, in the 3 referred cities.

The detailed design of the required interventions for the good functioning of the existing bulk water supply systems and distribution water supply systems, will comprise:

  • Rehabilitation of both Cuquema bulk water supply systems, and Cussola bulk water supply system, as well the needed interventions in the distribution network and reservoirs, and the rehabilitation of existing 5000 household connections currently out of service, in Cuito;
  • Rehabilitation of Kulimahala bulk water supply systems, as well needed interventions in the distribution network and reservoirs, in Huambo;
  • Rehabilitation of Senhora do Monte bulk water supply systems, as well interventions in the distribution network and reservoirs, in Lubango;

The detailed design of the above interventions shall be followed by the construction of the related works.

The overall objective of this consultancy assignment is to carry out the design review of the rehabilitation works on the existing water supply systems, in the cities of Cuito, Huambo and Lubango, and existing water supply systems rehabilitation works, and the site supervision as the “The Engineer” (also referred to as Project Manager or Engineer’s Representative) in accordance with the Contract Conditions and the Environmental and Social Management Framework for the Water Sector Institutional Development Project and Resettlement Policy Framework – ESMF/RPF safeguard documents and local environmental and social legislation, including site specific environmental and social safeguards instruments.
