IPA is seeking a Philanthropic Partnerships Associate to support the Philanthropic Partnerships team in achieving the ambitious goal of growing unrestricted fundraising revenue from $4 million to $6 million annually in the next five years. Unrestricted funds are critical to enabling IPA to effectively deliver and strategically expand its work to discover and promote effective solutions to global poverty problems, while equipping decision-makers to use evidence to reduce poverty.
A key member of the Philanthropic Partnerships team, the associate will ensure that donors and prospects receive the highest level of customer service, will maintain donor and prospect data with exceptional accuracy and timeliness, and will support travel, events, and other activities core to IPA’s fundraising program. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Philanthropic Partnerships, the Philanthropic Partnerships Associate will work closely with other members of the Philanthropic Partnerships team as well as across departments including Policy, Communications, Finance, Legal, IT and the Executive Team.
IPA's compensation structure is designed based on the labor market for the specific geographic location where the employee is located. We are offering the following salary ranges for this position:
- Senior Policy Associate is classified as "C1" on IPA's global job structure.
- For US based employees the starting annual gross salary is $53,882 with a maximum of $65,000
- The salary for locations outside of the US will vary depending on IPA's salary scale ranges for that specific location.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
Fundraising & Communications
- Provide high-quality, courteous, and rapid customer service to prospects, donors and colleagues across IPA.
- Coordinate donor recognition. Ensure gift receipts are sent in a timely manner, and provide support to senior staff for personal acknowledgments. Draft acknowledgment letters and other donor correspondence as needed. Support the distribution of the Annual Report, Year-End Appeal, and other communications to donors (digital and postal).
- Conduct preliminary research on prospects to assist with the identification of potential funding opportunities.
- Coordinate and maintain third-party accounts to ensure gifts are processed and acknowledged.
- Serve as the primary staff member responsible for data processing for the Philanthropic Partnerships team.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and donor tracking by performing data entry, reporting, and updates in Salesforce for donors, donations, fundraising events, and solicitations, including contact information, gift amounts, biographical information, pertinent correspondence, engagements, and other data.
- Work closely with the Finance team to reconcile donation records in Salesforce with official financial records.
Travel & Event Planning
- Assist in the organization and production of cultivation events and special meetings, including coordinating logistics, sending invitations, and managing RSVP lists. Prepare follow-up and post event tracking and correspondence of all event attendees.
- Provide support to the Philanthropic Partnerships team with travel arrangements, scheduling donor meetings, and special projects.
- Assist with various aspects of proposal development and donor reporting as required (e.g., organizing supporting documents, coordinating due dates and timelines, sending packages as needed).
- Assist with administration of routine tasks related to online donation processing.
- Execute department administrative tasks including processing invoices and payment requests, processing mail, logging checks received.
- Coordinate with external vendors and internal teams to ensure state registrations are maintained.
- Bachelor’s degree with one to two years of work experience, or Associate’s degree with three-plus of experience; relevant experience may also be accepted in place of a degree.
- Solid computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google tools (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Slides) required
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and meet strict deadlines
- Experience in donor relations, event planning and/or customer service a plus
- Experience with relational donor/customer databases preferred. Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred
- Demonstrated interest in non-profit work, with interest in international development preferred
- Professional, collaborative interpersonal style, ability to interact with a diverse range of people across different levels of the organization and a team-centered approach
- Able to take initiative and work proactively to ask questions and solve problems.
- Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and integrity
