Technical Proposal Writer

WSP is seeking qualified candidates for an experienced Proposal Writer, for a short-term assignment to provide written technical content for USAID- and FCDO-funded programs in climate finance, climate change resilience and adaptation, and investment mobilization proposals. The Proposal Writer will work closely with the Proposal Manager and business development team to create quality proposals.  This position may work remotely in any US location.

Duties and Responsibilities:

§  Serve as a lead technical writer for proposals in climate finance; climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience; climate-smart agriculture; value chain financing; and related activities.

§  Develop technical outlines and write sections of the proposals with inputs from the team, technical experts, and partners.

§  Contribute to building strategic approach, developing winning themes, leading storyboarding sessions, and integrating technical input and feedback from partners and technical experts.

§  Review solicitation documents, partner information, and other donor-provided and publicly available resources (e.g., Country Development Strategies, Business Case) and identify critical areas to strengthen the approach.

§  Participate in discussions with key stakeholders, partner organizations, and local resources/stakeholders.  

§  Review relevant donor, government, and private sector activities and identify areas of potential coordination.

§  Lead regular review discussions with relevant stakeholders, technical experts, and country resources and take the lead in incorporating input/feedback into the technical proposal.

§  Review other proposal sections to ensure alignment with the technical approach, including management structure, identification of key personnel, and organizational structure.

Key Competencies Required

§  Extensive experience writing technical proposals for USAID and FCDO/UKaid projects, preferably in climate finance, climate resilience and adaptation, climate-smart agriculture, value chain financing, investment mobilization, and related technical areas.

§   Good understanding of USAID solicitation requirements, including cross-cutting technical areas (e.g., GESI, DEI, Private Sector Engagement) and evaluation criteria. 

§  Adept at storyboarding, putting together technical approach and methodology that corresponds to client requirements, as well as the articulation of the technical section that demonstrates a high level of confidence among the reviewers as relates to WSP’s delivery capability.

§  Proven track record in writing winning proposals to USAID or other donors (e.g., FCDO) and ability to write across various technical disciplines for different audiences.

§  Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively write and synthesize data/information from multiple sources

Other Preferred Expertise/Skills

§  Experience implementing donor-funded programs in developing countries, especially Latin America and Caribbean region.

§  Professional working proficiency in Spanish.
