Functional responsibilities


The incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Support liaison efforts with Government of Jordan entities, primarily the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, the National Operations Centre, Joint Coordination and Monitoring Centre, and other governmental counterparts to aid in achieving OSESGY objectives.
  • Facilitate coordination on matters related to operations, access, movement, and coordination with OSESGY's governmental and non-governmental partners in Jordan.
  • Facilitate and follow up on the issuance of visas, residency permits, vehicle license registrations, tax exemptions, security clearances, and all other protocol-related entitlements for OSESGY, UNMHA, and PSP personnel.
  • Assist in documentation of decisions, correspondence, and actions taken on liaison issues, ensuring electronic filing is up to date.
  • Draft and prepare official correspondence for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and other governmental entities.
  • Coordinate logistical support for visits between the host government and OSESGY.
  • Participate in the preparation of agendas and supporting documentation for meetings with local government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Support in obtaining required approvals and security clearances from the government for organizing OSESGY’s events, workshops, and training sessions in Jordan.
  • Assist in processing requests for diplomatic privileges and immunities, and when required, accreditation for non-UN staff who are attending meetings held at OSESGY.
  • Keep abreast of changes and developments in host country policy and procedures related to protocol.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Education/Experience/Language requirements


Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A first-level degree preferably in public administration, political science, international relations, international economics, law or a related field may substitute for 2 years of relevant experience.



Work Experience
:

  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience in protocol, public information, external relations or a related area.
  • Experience in the application of administrative procedures and practices of the United Nations or that of a similar international organization is desirable.
  • Experience in liaising with government authorities is desirable.


Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For theposition advertised, fluency in English and Arabic (oral and written) is required.
