To manage a new regional project covering Myanmar and Thailand, Malteser International is looking for a Regional Project Coordinator, based in Myanmar or Thailand with frequent travel in both countries. 

As Regional Project Coordinator, you will oversee the project implementation and provide overall leadership and effective coordination to the MI project teams as well as partners in Myanmar and Thailand. The role is expected to maintain a strong presence in Myanmar, as 90% of the project activities are expected to be implemented in Myanmar.

Your responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation, and monitoring of the project in Myanmar and Thailand, ensuring that activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with donor requirements
  • Lead and manage the project team, ensuring effective coordination and performance management, as well as providing capacity-building support to strengthen the skills and performance of both staff and partners
  • In coordination with the entry points at MI program locations collaborate with civil society organizations, local governments, and other stakeholders to strengthen resilience in affected communities and operationalize the HDP Nexus approach
  • In alignment with the country MEAL team, develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to assess the impact of project interventions and adapt activities as necessary
  • Ensure timely and high-quality reporting to MI and donor, including financial and narrative reports, and maintain regular exchanges with MI entities in the country as well as at HQ to support the communication to donors and key stakeholders
  • Identify potential risks to project implementation, including political and security risks, and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with internal and donor policies
  • Represent Malteser International in relevant forums, and working groups, and advocate for the project’s objectives at local, national, and international levels

Your profile:

  • Master´s degree in International Development, Project Management, Public Health, Humanitarian Studies, or related fields is preferred
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in humanitarian, development, or conflict sensitivity environment, ideally in conflict or crisis-affected regions; Work experience in the region is a strong asset
  • Strong knowledge of the HDP Nexus and proven experience in sectors such as health, nutrition, climate resilience, or peacebuilding; expertise with German donors is a strong asset
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to foster collaboration across multi-cultural teams and diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in designing and implementing M&E frameworks, and adapting project strategies based on evidence and lessons learned
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of local languages (Burmese, Thai) or German is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse cultural settings and navigate complex socio-political environments as well as  willingness to travel frequently to field sites in Myanmar and Thailand in accordance with safety and security recommendations

What we offer:

  • Start Date: 01. November 2024
  • Duty Station: Myanmar or Thailand. Due to visa restrictions in Myanmar frequent travel outside the country is considered with potential to be based in the region
  • Duration of contract: 3 years
  • Salary according to qualification and experience, insurance package
