The overall objective (Impact) of the action is to contribute to a stable, diversified, and sustainable supply chain of critical raw materials (CRMs) for the EU, fostering cooperation across the entire value chain, and enhancing the resilience of the EU and Canada’s economies.
The specific objectives (Outcomes) of this contract are as follows:
Specific objective (Outcome) 1: Effective implementation of the EU-Canada Strategic Partnership on Raw Materials under its three pillars (integration of Canada-EU raw materials value chains; enhancement of collaboration in research and innovation on CRM and their value chains; joint approach in development and application of inclusive ESG standards).
Specific objective (Outcome) 2: Continued presence of the EU at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), the biggest mining and exploration exposition in the world.
The expected outputs of this contract are as follows:
Output 1 to Outcome 1: The participation of EU businesses and related EU stakeholders in the EUCanada Critical Raw Material supply value chains is enhanced (support to Pillar 1).
Output 2 to Outcome 1: Research and innovation are leveraged across initiatives in EU and Canada for application to the CRM value chains (support to Pillar 2).
Output 3 to Outcome 1: Better awareness and alignment are achieved between the EU and Canada ESG Criteria and Standards in the CRM sector (support to Pillar 3).
Output 1 to Outcome 2: More impactful and visible EU presence at PDAC.
The Team Leader (TL), supported by the project director, will be responsible for the overall coordination of the technical assistance and ensure effective coordination and sequencing of all project activities. She/he will further have to demonstrate the ability to manage technical specialists as non-key experts for delivering the various technical tasks under the project.
The Team Leader will also guarantee the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall project management, implementation and monitoring, including that all projects outputs and reports are appropriate, consistent, timely and of the highest quality.
The Team Leader will demonstrate, through his/her proven qualifications, skills and professional experience, the following: excellent interpersonal skills and team-oriented and service oriented work style; self-motivated ability to work independently; eye for detail/accuracy; resistance to stress; ability to dialogue and work with Canadian national and local authorities and institutional structures.
Qualifications and skills:
- Advanced university degree (Master degree) or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the scope
of the assignment such as business, economy, management, law;
- Excellent team and resource management skills;
- Strong analytical skills and computer literacy;
- Good communication and facilitation skills;
- Fluency in English (C1 level);
- Fluency in French will be considered an asset.
General professional experience:
- Minimum 10 years of general professional experience;
Specific professional experience:
- Minimum 5 years of specific professional experience (included in the 10 years of general
professional experience) on technical assistance in a field related to this assignment;
- At least 3 years of experience as a team leader in managing technical assistance
projects/programmes;
- At least 3 years of working experience in North America.
All experts must be independent and free from conflicts of interest in the responsibilities they take on.
