Job Title: Coaching Supervisors (Daynile Central,East and Afgoye) 3 National Positions
Organizational Description:
AVSI is an international NGO with headquarters in Italy, which has been active in Kenya since 1986 and In Somalia since 2020. AVSI is a prominent provider of development and humanitarian assistance around the world and brings strong management and innovative strategies to programs in various sectors including; Agriculture and Food Security, Child Protection, Education, Energy, Health, Livelihood, Economic Strengthening, Wash, Vocational Training & Job Creation, Health, Protection including child protection, and Environment.
Programme Background:
AVSI Foundation is launching a poverty-alleviation project under its Resilience Food Security Activity framework in the areas of Mogadishu/Banadir and Afgoye. The project is centered on the Graduation Approach, a multistep, time-bound program designed to bring extremely poor and vulnerable households out of poverty in a sustainable and resilient manner. The interventions are hence planned to roll out in a set of underserved IDP and host settlements of Mogadishu/Banadir and the Afgoye area. While this approach has never been applied to this cale in Somalia, AVSI has built its expertise in Graduation after successfully applying this approach in countries like Kenya and Uganda. The project is expected to run from 2024 to 2029.
Job Purpose
To contribute to the RSFA “Adkeeysi” Program led by Save the Children and financed by BHA/USAID in Somalia, with a focus on the implementation of the coaching component of the Graduation Approach in collaboration with coaches.
Duties and responsibilities:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The ideal candidates MUST have a minimum Bachelors in the following fields: Social Sciences, Community Development, Social Work, Agriculture, Education, Social Administration, and other related areas
• Experience in community work preferably within an NGO or government is highly desired.
• Demonstrable ability to coach, mentor and build capacity of participant households and groups in identification and addressing of their needs.
• Experience working with refugees and host communities is desirable.
• Flexibility to work both in a team and independently
• Be a current resident in Mogadishu/Banadir or Afgoye/neighboring villages.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to write reports
• Cultural sensitivity, patience and flexibility
• Fluency in local Benaadir Somali dialect is a MUST, while knowledge of any dialects spoken by IDP communities in Banadir/Afgoye is an advantage.
• Knowledge of English is required.

Functionally report to the Hub Coordinators (Save the Children and partners)
