For the past 30 years, Acted has been working at the forefront of humanitarian action to save lives. Acted supports more than 27 million people in 43 countries, meeting their needs in hard-to-reach areas, while pursuing a triple mandate as a humanitarian, environmental, and development actor. Acted relies on a deep understanding of local contexts to develop and implement long-term actions, in collaboration with a wide range of local and international partners, to collectively build a 3ZERO world: Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon and Zero Poverty.
Ethiopia’s geographical and demographic profile makes it highly vulnerable to climate hazards and conflicts. Prolonged droughtand subsequent floods , combined with conflicts in Tigray (2020-2022), Amhara and Oromia, inter-ethnic and inter-clan rivalries across the country, have left 21.4 million people across Ethiopia in urgent need of humanitarian aid. In addition, Ethiopia welcome 1M+ refugees population from neighboring countries (Sudan, Eritrea, South Sudan, Somalia).
Acute Food Insecurity is widespread: most regions are in Stressed or Crisis phases, and 26 woredas are in Emergency phase nationwide. Structural deficits, including lack of basic services, notably WASH and Health infrastructures, and inflation , also aggravate the situation.
In response, Acted supports refugees, IDP, returnees, and host communities by implementing emergency and post-emergency programs, to help communities overcome and recover from crisis, and be more resilient to future shocks.
The Project Development Manager (PDM) positions Acted with donors and leads the development of project proposals in line with Acted’s global and in-country programme strategy, and ensures proper grant management. The PDM ensures smooth internal communication and coordination with relevant departments, and contributes to Acted external communication strategy.
