Project objectives

 

Promotion of green territorial development and urban-rural linkages, whereby human settlements - aimag and soum centres become anchors of green agribusiness that promote sustainable, resilient, and high -carbon sequestration rangeland management. The project involves:

1.    Development of a Market-Driven, Integrated, Cost-Efficient, and Climate-Resilient Livestock Supply Chain Organization

2.    Competitive, Low-Carbon, and Export-Oriented Value-Added Production, Agribusiness, and SME Development

3.    Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Rangeland and Animal Welfare Management.

4.    Strengthening Animal Health and Breeding Services for Enhanced Productivity

5.    Improving Irrigation Systems and Infrastructure to Enhance Livestock Forage Production.

 

The project is envisaged to start in April 2026 with expected duration ca. 4 years. The project is funded through a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. in veterinary medicine or animal health sciences
  • At least 5 years of experience in animal health, preferably in rural or development contexts
  • Strong knowledge of livestock diseases, vaccination protocols, and treatment methods
  • Proven experience in training and capacity-building for local communities
  • Knowledge of veterinary procedures and animal care

Tasks:

  1. Provide technical input and guidelines for Scope 4 and Scope 5: Strengthening Animal Health and Breeding Services for Enhanced Productivity, Improving Irrigation Systems and Infrastructure to Enhance Livestock Forage Production
  2. Provide training and technical support to herders on disease prevention, treatment, and vaccination protocols
  3. Monitor and report on livestock health trends and disease outbreaks
  4. Collaborate with Livestock and Agrobusiness Specialist to align health strategies with value chain initiatives
  5. Support the implementation of national and regional animal health policies
  6. Liaison with GAVS
