Project Background

Egypt is committed to sustainable industrial development and green transformation.
Under the Private Sector Innovation Project II (PSI II), GIZ supports the creation of an enabling environment for Sustainable Industrial Areas (SIAs) that promote resource efficiency, competitiveness, and environmental and social responsibility.

This assignment aims to contribute to the regulatory framework for SIAs by:

• Building a shared understanding among key stakeholders,
• Enhancing institutional capacities, and
• Supporting the adoption of changes to the national regulatory framework for sustainable industrial development.

Tasks and Responsibilities of KE 2 Senior Expert on Sustainable Industrial Areas Planning and Management:

·       Design and facilitate public–private exchange meetings and consultations.

·       Support Key Expert 3 in stakeholder mapping and analysis.

·       Develop, together with other experts, recommendations for minimum sustainability requirements.

·       Develop content and deliver capacity-building input on planning and management of Sustainable Industrial Areas.

·       Assess the compatibility of pilot areas with sustainability practices.

·       Provide high-level advice and coaching to park managers and developers.

·       Contribute to the preparation of activity reports and knowledge dissemination.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education / Training:

·       Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, Business Administration, or Economics.

Language:

·       C2-level proficiency in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

General Professional Experience:

·       7 years of professional experience in sustainable industrial areas planning.

Specific Professional Experience:

·       At least 5 work references in cooperation with or consulting of sustainable industrial areas or eco-industrial parks and their management.

·       At least 5 work references on the development or implementation of frameworks, standards, guidelines, or policies related to sustainable industrial areas development.

·       At least 3 work references related to the (master-)planning or zoning of sustainable industrial areas.

International Professional Experience:

·       At least 2 international work references outside the MENA region on relevant topics.

Regional / Country Experience:

·       3 work references in the MENA region, including 1 in Egypt.

Experience in Development Cooperation:

·       At least 2 years of professional experience in development cooperation projects.
