Established in 2006, MSI Ghana is an affiliate of MSI Reproductive Choices and is one of the largest specialized Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) organisations in Ghana. MSI Ghana complements the Ministry of Health in the provision of quality and affordable general health and SRH services across all regions of Ghana.

MSI Ghana has a vacancy for a passionate, strategic, and experienced individual with the relevant qualifications and leadership experience to join our team in Accra. MSI Ghana’s goal is to meet the needs of the underserved and improve access to Family Planning (FP) and other SRH services. At MSI Reproductive Choices, we are unapologetically prochoice. MSIG currently has a vacancy for a Director of Finance.

About the Role

The Finance Director is a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), responsible for driving financial integrity, efficiency, and sustainability across MSIG. The role provides strategic financial leadership, oversees donor and commercial operations, ensures compliance with Ghanaian laws and MSI global standards, and supports innovation and growth. The Finance Director will lead a motivated finance team and act as a business partner to the Country Director, ensuring sound financial decision-making across the organisation.

Location: Accra (with travel across Ghana and sometimes international)
Employment Type: Full-time
Reporting to: Country Director, MSIG
Probationary Period: 3 months

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and advise SMT on financial strategy, risk, and investment decisions.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting aligned with MSIG’s strategic goals.
  • Oversee all accounting, reporting, and financial control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with MSI Global Partnership policies, IFRS, and Ghanaian statutory requirements.
  • Lead donor budget development, financial reporting, and grant compliance.
  • Support commercial teams with financial analysis, pricing strategies, and ROI assessments.
  • Oversee procurement planning, supply chain performance, and compliance.
  • Lead and build capacity within the finance team and support financial literacy across departments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax filings, audit coordination, and regulatory compliance.

What You Bring

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • ICAG, ACCA, or equivalent international accounting qualification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive finance experience, including at least 4 years in senior management.
  • Experience with donor-funded projects and working in both NGO and commercial environments.
  • Prior experience with an audit or consulting firm (Big 4 or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of IFRS, grant management, and financial systems.
  • Proficient in SUN Accounting Package and advanced Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

  • Must be pro-choice.
