Established in 2006, MSI Ghana is an affiliate of MSI Reproductive Choices and is one of the largest specialized Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) organisations in Ghana. MSI Ghana complements the Ministry of Health in the provision of quality and affordable general health and SRH services across all regions of Ghana.

MSI Ghana has a vacancy for a passionate, strategic, and experienced individual with the relevant qualifications and leadership experience to join our team in Accra. MSI Ghana’s goal is to meet the needs of the underserved and improve access to Family Planning (FP) and other SRH services. At MSI Reproductive Choices, we are unapologetically prochoice. MSIG currently has a vacancy for a Director of Medical Services.

About the Role

The Director of Medical Services (DMS) will lead the Medical Development Team (MDT) and provide strategic direction for all MSIG clinical activities across service delivery channels including centres, outreach, and social franchise networks. The DMS will ensure clinical excellence, quality assurance, and innovation in service delivery, while maintaining compliance with national and international standards. The role also involves stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and contributing to research and policy development.

Location: Accra (with travel across Ghana)
Employment Type: Full-time
Reporting to: Country Director, MSIG
Probationary Period: 3 months

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across all MSIG clinical service channels.
  • Lead development and review of medical policies, standards, and protocols.
  • Monitor clinical performance and ensure quality assurance across all facilities.
  • Represent MSIG in SRH forums and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Lead medical innovation and support research initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor MDT members, ensuring accountability and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with MSI global standards and Ghana Health Service regulations.
  • Support recruitment and training of clinical staff.
  • Promote continuous professional development and participate in international SRH conferences.

What You Bring

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or Medicine with a Public Health specialty.
  • Professional licensure and good standing with a recognized clinical body in Ghana.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in SRH, clinical management, training, and supervision.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficient in clinical procedures such as MVA, IUCD, implants, and vasectomy.
  • Experience in research and technical report writing.
  • IT proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet tools.
