The Vacancy

Humanitarian Academy for Development (HAD) is actively recruiting for the position of Programmes & Grants Assistant, to be based from its office in Birmingham, UK, on a hybrid basis. HAD is an award-winning global hub for capacity strengthening, applied research, and leadership development, serving not only the learning and development of Islamic Relief Worldwide staff, but also individuals and organisations from across the wider humanitarian and development community. Through our capacity strengthening work with local and national NGOs worldwide, HAD’s programmes focus particularly on supporting localisation efforts and contributing towards our mission to strengthen the humanitarian sector.

The purpose of the Programmes & Grants Assistant role is to ensure the effective delivery of HAD’s capacity strengthening programmes through providing efficient administrative and operational support.

The successful candidate must have or be:

  • Educated to at least undergraduate level or equivalent.
  • Understanding and awareness of humanitarian and development sector.
  • Experience of providing a wide range of administrative and operational activities, preferably in the charitable sector with local/national CSOs and/or international NGOs.
  • Proven ability and experience to work towards achieving targets and objectives.
  • Ability to work towards achieving key performance indicators and organisational strategy.
  • Experience meeting deadlines and using judgement and initiative in problem resolution.
  • Proven experience in producing updates, internal reports, and high-quality reporting.
  • Commitment to a participatory, supportive, open environment to ensure the learning and development of all.
