Description

STOOS Consulting is an international research and evaluation firm registered in Kenya, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Ukraine, Libya, Nigeria, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, Colombia, Brazil, and other countries. We specialize in delivering high-quality consulting services across sectors such as livelihoods, health, education, protection, climate resilience, governance, and humanitarian response. Our work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, participatory methodologies, and strong ethical and inclusion standards. STOOS supports NGOs, UN agencies, and donors through rigorous research, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), capacity building, and technical advisory services across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and other regions, including complex and diverse contexts such as Brazil.

As we expand our portfolio, we are currently seeking a Field Manager to support an upcoming assignment in Brazil, overseeing field operations and ensuring the successful implementation of data collection activities. The role requires strong contextual awareness, effective community engagement, and the ability to manage logistical and operational challenges across Brazil’s diverse regions.

Position: Field Manager (Brazil-based)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of fieldwork activities across selected locations in Brazil, ensuring compliance with national regulations, ethical standards, and local community protocols.
  • Supervise and support enumerator and field research teams, ensuring high-quality, ethical, and timely data collection, with strong attention to cultural sensitivity and inclusion across urban, rural, traditional, and indigenous communities.
  • Coordinate participant mobilization and stakeholder engagement in collaboration with local authorities, community leaders, civil society organizations, and partner institutions, while navigating Brazil’s institutional and socio-political landscape.
  • Conduct field monitoring, spot checks, and troubleshooting during data collection, proactively addressing logistical, access, or security challenges that may arise in regions such as the Amazon, Cerrado, Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, Pantanal, or urban peripheries.
  • Provide regular field progress updates to the STOOS central coordination team, contributing contextual insights that inform analysis, interpretation of findings, and reporting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Environmental Studies, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience managing fieldwork for research, surveys, assessments, or M&E assignments, preferably in Brazil or Latin America.
  • Proven experience supervising enumerator or field teams in multi-site or logistically complex contexts, with strong understanding of ethical research practices and community engagement in Brazil.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written, for coordination with international teams and reporting; fluency in Portuguese is essential for local coordination and community engagement; knowledge of indigenous or local languages is a strong asset.
  • Strong familiarity with digital data collection platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO) and experience supporting data quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines, manage multiple stakeholders, and adapt to evolving field conditions, including logistical and access constraints.
