Project details:

Leighton International* has been awarded a contract to double track the existing rail line between Ipoh and Padang Besar in Malaysia, a distance of approx 329km, for MMC Gamuda. This project follows the successful duplication of 320km of rail line between Rawang and Ipoh.

Project work involves the laying of two new parallel tracks to replace the exisiting single track, including new stations, bridges as well as modern electrical and signalling systems. When completed, the entire dual tracks will stretch over 900km from south to north of Pennisular Malyasia.

*As at 7 February 2011, operational responsibility for Leighton International's Malaysian activities were transferred to Leighton Asia to better align the geography of the market with the management of the Group's operations in Asia.
