Contract Description:
The mission of the HHS/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is to promote the health and quality of life of people by preventing and controlling disease, injury and disability; and to protect Americans both domestic and abroad, by shielding them from health threats via international prevention, detection and response networks. CDC, through its Center for Global Health (CGH) is in a unique position to bring its scientific expertise and credibility to advance the global initiatives of the United States Government (USG) to save lives, reduce suffering, and support the health and dignity of people around the world. The key elements of CDC’s global health strategy are to:
- Assist Ministries of Health to plan and implement evidence based public health programs;
- Achieve the goals adopted by the USG and international organizations to improve health, including disease eradication and elimination targets;
- Expand CDC’s global health programs that focus on the leading causes of mortality, morbidity and disability, especially chronic disease and injuries;
- Generate and apply scientific knowledge to achieve health goals;
- Strengthen health systems and their impact.
Objective:
Provide technical assistance and support to CDC through their existing CoAgs,GH001180, GH000710, and GH001531, in their efforts to build the capacity of the Government of Papua New Guinea and strengthen the laboratory, medical and surveillance programs for HIV treatment and care supported by PEPFAR.
Scope:
Supplies and equipment are incidental to the required services to be performed and shall be o rdered as needed on each individual task order. Performance for the individual task orders will be measured in accordance with the performance based matrices attached to each task order. The Contractor awardee shall be obligated to perform within the minimum and maximum order limitations set forth in clauses 52.216.19, Order Limitations. The Government will make every effort to give advance notice of requirements, but the services for which this contract will be used could potentially address an immediate need involving an emergency, or a short notice requirement.
