Description

Programme title: Partnerships for Strengthening Maternal, Newborn and Child Health

Title of the Proposal: Presbyterian World Service and Development Maternal, Newborn and Child Health 2015-2020 initiative

Description: The initiative aims to build local and facility-level capacity and accountability to reduce barriers preventing pregnant women and mothers from utilizing sexual and reproductive health services in one province of Afghanistan and two regions of Malawi. It will help improve the quality and supply of services at the facility level by improving the skills and attitudes of health care workers, as well as ensuring that the facilities have the appropriate tools. It will also improve demand for health services by increasing women’s decision making for their own and their children’s health, increasing male support for women’s decision making, increasing community participation in sexual and reproductive health, and changing behaviors that put women and girls at risk.
