Description

Detailed description of project: The project aimed to build capacity among private and public sectors in the EAC region to develop and influence international standards. The project was implemented in close cooperation with the East African Community Secretariat and the National Standards institutions in the region. Participants in the project represented companies, institutes, universities, governmental bodies and NGOs from the five member states in EAC. It entailed the following five components:

  2. Enhance competence among selected EAC region stakeholders to participate effectively in national and international standard setting processes.

  3. Strengthen competence among NSBs in standard implementation to be able to use ISO standards using carbon footprint of products (ISO 14067) as a pilot.

  4. Strengthen competence among selected companies in standard implementation to be able to use ISO standards.

  5. Strengthen competence among selected programme participants in standard implementation to be able to use ISO standards.
