Description
The overall objective of these institutional and technical support (ITS) contracts (1 per lot) is to assist the Government of India in meeting the MDGs through giving support to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in the implementation of the NRHM with particular reference to improving results of RCH-II and to facilitate capacity building to tackle systemic determinants of women's and children's health.
The ITS component is aiming at developing an evidence-based regulatory system for the various health sector functions: strengthening the national organisational development of the MoHFW/National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC) and the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare's (NIHFW) functioning. Both institutions enable their state or regional branches to strengthen the state capacity by means of reorganising the primary service delivery infrastructure; strengthening the State Directorates for improved management capacity, especially of treasury and non-treasury systems; strengthening logistic systems from procurement to distribution of drugs and consumables; promoting standard treatment protocols, prescription audit, pharmacological management skills; improving access to basic services at secondary hospitals; supporting human resources development; promoting systems for referral, health information management and staff performance monitoring.
