Improve the living conditions of Syrian children with disabilities (CWDS) in Azraq and Za’atari Syrian refugee camps

Description: This project continues the activity the FPSC has been developing with handicapped children in the refugee camps of Za’atari and Azraq.

UNICEF reports that the 3.3% of the children in Za’atari’s camp has some time of disability or chronic illness, caused by sicknesses like spine bifida, hydrocephalus or cerebral palsy, that effect dramatically to their mobility.

The four month long project has the goal of providing these children with wheelchairs adapted for sports, in order to improve their inclusion and the participation of the children and teenagers in socio-inclusive sport activities (and leisure) aiming to increase their self esteem and enabling them to take the lead of their lives. This autonomy will affect very positively the living condition in their family members, who will as well take a essential part in the adaptation of the children.

Furthermore, it includes the provision of better equipment for the FPSC facilities there, dedicated to physical therapies and rehabilitation sessions: mirrors, therapy tables, mobility wheels and gym bars.
