Description

The objective of the PPOKK Education project was to raise the average level of education in the area in which it operated, which included rural areas in the provinces of Oubritenga, Kourweogo and Kadiogo (400,000 inhabitants).

In order to do so, it encouraged an increase in schooling and literacy rates by constructing new educational infrastructures, improving existing infrastructures and funding literacy campaigns in rural areas. It contributed to improving the quality of teaching by supporting and providing on-going training for teachers and literacy specialists, increasing the powers of parents associations and providing equipment for the infrastructures in place. It was also involved in strengthening links between schools and communities.

Over a four-year period, the project provided many infrastructures to benefit the area in which it was implemented, including school complexes, permanent literacy and training centres (CPAF), drilling rigs, latrines, teacher housing, etc.
