EXTENSION AND UPGRADING OF THE WATER SUPPLY INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF VAL DI SUSA ( PROVINCE OF TURIN )

The project concerns the implementation of a series of interventions aimed at extension and
upgrading of the existing water supply infrastructure in the municipalities of Bardonecchia,
Cesana Torinese, Chiomonte, Claviere, Oulx, Sauze di Cesana, Sauze d‟Oulx and Sestriere in the area of the Val di Susa in the Province of Turin.

Specific interventions foreseen within the project include:

•  Restructuring or extension of the existing water intakes;
•  New works on water intakes;
•  Compliance with the regulations on water intake;
•  Extension of water tanks;
•  Adaptation and restructuring of the existing water tanks or basins and/or providing for their compliance with the relevant regulations;
•  Construction of new water tanks;
•  Construction of new water intake pipes;
•  Replacement of the existing intake pipes;
•  Construction of new distribution pipes;
•  Replacement of the existing distribution pipes; and
•  Installation of disinfection plants with UV rays

SGI Studio Galli Ingegneria S.p.A. performed the following activities:

• Evaluation of the number of population to be served and drinking water demand to be satisfied;
• Development of preliminary feasibility study to identify and select an optimal solution.
• Conducting topographic surveys of the pipes‟ routes and of the intake and sedimentation points;
• Preparation of detailed design containing the hydraulic model of the network;
• Creation of an automatic remote control system consisting of peripheral stations, as well as an appropriate transmission system and central unit with control software,for the use of several  municipalities interested in such interventions;
• Works supervision.
