Description
The project is aimed at the enlargement and upgrade of the Conselve wastewater treatment plant that serves vast consortia of municipalities located in the southern part of the Veneto and Conselve‟s industrial area. The WWTP requires a significant enlargement, up to about 48,000 PE, due to the extension of the sewer network connected with the plant.
At the same time the plant needs to comply with the new regulations (Special Laws for Venice and its lagoon) applied to all discharges into the catchment of the Venice lagoon, where very stringent limits have been defined for any treatment plant given the high vulnerability of the lagoon system. Given the low levels of nitrogen allowed in final discharge, new predenitrification / oxidation / postdenitrification / reaeration stages are required.
The project also foresees the upgrading of the existing line through the construction of a new pre-denitro compartment and the rehabilitation and enlargement of the preliminary treatment stages. The final request for the upgraded plant is the possibility to reuse the treated wastewater for agriculture activities in the surrounding areas. As a consequence, a tertiary treatment is being introduced, consisting of intermediate lifting station, chemicals dosage, clariflocculation, gravity filtration (sand), and disinfection with UV lamps.
