DAM FOR FLOOD CONTROL ON THE OLONA RIVER

 The project concerned the realisation of a dam on the Olona River, aiming to protect the surrounding areas from flooding.
SGI has been particularly engaged to carry out the following activities:

• Works supervision and coordination of geognostic and geotechnical surveys;
• Technical support for the realisation of water resistance tests;
• In situ quality control and testing of works and materials..

Moreover SGI has been awarded the works supervision on the third lot.

Following are listened the key features of the dam:

• Dam catchment area: 97 km2
• Dam crest : 1600 m
• Total storage capacity : 1,790,000 m3
