Description

Name of Client Safer Cities Programme – UN Habitat

The Safer Cities Programme of the UN-Habitat has been active since 1996 in Africa, Asia, and Latin America with aim to strengthening the preconditions for urban development via the investment in participatory methods promoting urban safety and good governance. In 2006, the programme sought funding from the Swedish Agency for Development and Cooperation (Sida) to launch a second phase intending to scale up the global component as well as the normative framework of the programme. The project proposal titled “Sustainable Urban Safety through Prevention and Inclusive Governance” was subject to an in-depth assessment by the SIPU consultant. The recommendations that emanated from the assessment entailed providing guidance to the programme in the formulation of an inception phase of the project, as well as further assistance during ditto to ensure that the inception phase be carried out strategically vis-à-vis the items that needed to be addressed prior to the main part of the project
