Description

The rehabilitation concept included the following works which were carried out by the construction firm:

At the lower side of the superstructure the top layer was dismantled. Following was a new foundation and a new coating was applied. The total thickness of the layers is clearly above the mimimum thickness which is actually requested by regulations.

The surfacing on the footway was cleaned by means of milling and shot peening. Based on a foundation a coating was applied and sandblasted. This results into a good anti-slippery effect especially at the approach areas. The employed companies affected the disposal of waste material in conformity with the valid regulations.

The railings were cleaned and they were coated after a base treatment.

The free reinforcement bars were treated by a surface treatment system according to the German Standard ZTV-SIB. The upper sides of the caps received a silica sand layer. All other exposed surfaces and the entire substructures received an acylic coating in 2 layers for a better optical effect.

The rehabilitation works were carried out between April and August 2006 mainly with the help of a boat scaffolding in several sections. Only in the foreshore areas a standing scaffolding could be employed. In all phases a limited use by pedestrians could be ensured.
