Description

Development and realization of agro logistic centres to support the export of horticultural products from Ghana to Europe by creating cooling facilities from harvesting to supermarket.

It is a long-term project and includes the development of:

  • a distribution centre (DC) in the port of Tema
  • a perishable cargo centre (PCC) at the airport of Accra
  • conditioned sorting & packing facilities at the production locations (FPH = Field Pack House).

The facilities are organized for fruit, vegetables and ornamentals.

In 2005 the distribution centre was built in Tema.
In 2010-2012 the PCC in Accra was built.
Between 2006 and present various FPH's are built.

VEK was responsible for supervision until commissioning, including planning, design, engineering, tendering & contracting. Partner Adviesburo Verhoef was responsible for the cooling installations.
