Geothermal Resources in Bulgaria – Detailed Design and Profitability Analyses for Geothermal Heating Systems in Velingrad, Sapareva Bania and at Six Other Sites
Details
Locations:Bulgaria
Start Date:Jan 1, 2005
End Date:Dec 31, 2006
Sectors: Energy, Heating
Description
Project Description:
Bulgaria has a huge geothermal potential which is used in isolated cases only.
A comprehensive documentation of the potential uses has been elaborated by order of the Ministry of Economics and Energy.
Draft and detailed design as well as tender documents were compiled for totally 8 sites.
The work included:
- Determination of the geothermal potential
- Selection of heat consumers
- Design of heat distribution and optimization of the consumer’s installations
- Design of the thermal water systems, heat exchanger stations and district heat stations
- Detailed estimates and calculations of cost
- Calculations of the profitability and required investment
- Calculation of the CO2 reductions
Lahmeyer International Frankfurt/Main (Germany) and Aquater/Sofia (Bulgaria) were the project partners; GTN headed the Consortium.
