Description

The Assistance for Trade Reform project is building the capacity of the Egyptian Government to formulate and administer trade policy by: (i) establishing a WTO unit within the Ministry of Foreign Trade (MOFT); (ii) providing technical assistance on WTO compliance, export promotion techniques, and best practices; and (iii) improving the performance of cooperating MOFT divisions through reengineering processes. Under a subcontract with Nathan Associates, Checchi provided a Senior Institutional Development Advisor with expertise in restructuring government agencies to lead the reengineering team. Working with senior-level counterparts from each cooperating division, the advisor was responsible for designing and implementing an organizational structure, processes, and procedures to improve communication and cooperation among the divisions and leave them better equipped to achieve the Ministry's trade liberalization and reform objectives.
