Description
Strengthening CFAP producer group members to enhance vegetable, fish and rice production for year round by using appropriate water storage, using of good seeds, advisory support and raising awareness on threats of climate changes to small farmer producers and its adaptation to the changes as follow:
1). Strengthen network of Farmers’ organisations (associations, community base organisations, and the cooperatives) they are the membership base organization.
2). Pro-active approach will result better in policy discussion and feasibility to serve the interests of small farmers.
3). Farmers’ field schools, farmers-to-farmers exchange visits.
4). Improve the capacity of model farmers in the villages by giving proper knowledge, good seeds, breeding and some facilities as pilot, thus they can scale up and extend producing land size later and in the villages.
5). On time information will be provided to farmers by means of feasibility and reachable tools,
6). Use of proper water management (special trainings on how to use and keep water…).
7). Minimize gap between farmers/farmers’ organisations with other relevant stakeholders.
8). Linkage farmers to farmers network at national and international level therefore they could learn more about impacts of climate changes and diversified solution to their farming activities;
9). Improve the meteo information to get access to local farmer producers;
10). Organise technical advisory support & trainings for members who want to improve their technical skills in vegetables, fish and rice production to become more resilient to extreme weather events.
11). Strengthen the awareness on climate changes to young men and women;
12). Workshop to discuss on climate change and better solution for small farmer producers, (mix new and old groups to come together and share experiences include sharing of the results of soil analysis to participants).
Expected outputs:
1. Improved production of vegetable and rice on climate change impacts and adaptation methods
- 50 producer groups strengthened.
- 35 water storage with demonstration farms established.
- 350 farmers trained on-site (on demonstration farms) in technical production skills that could adapt to the climate and quick change.
- Pests and diseases control, pesticide and fertilizer application.
- Strengthen the savings by producer groups.
- Workshop to share knowledge on climate adaptive approaches, explain the results of soil analysis.
2. Improved access to water management.
- 50 producer groups trained.
- Use of water and water management.
3. Innovative approach.
- Use of new or early vegetable and rice varieties.
- Grow in a rotation system with proper technical protocols.
- Multi-agricultural purposes system around water storage that could stand with climate conditions.
-Produce for household consumption and sale.
4. Strengthening of FO base style and giving advisory support/capacity building.
- CFA/CBO leaders/staff members advised in added value of a membership base organisation.
- CFA/CBO leaders/staff members advised in preparation of training methods to farmer members that could adapt to the climate conditions.
- CFA/CBO leaders/staff members got training on computer software (Ms. Word and Excel), after training they get access to use computer both programmes and checking internet, especially for market information, meteo forecast and info on CFAP’s website.
- Implementation monitored.
