Objective: Objectives • Build the capacity of intersex activist groups in five focus countries and of 20+ intersex NGOs across Europe to advocate against intersex fundamental rights violations • Provide low-threshold and easily accessible online information to support intersex people and their families, as well as advocacy stakeholders • Increase the visibility of intersex people and the discrimination they face across the EU • Increase the awareness about intersex as an issue of social acceptance and not a medical issue Activities • Assessment of awareness raising/ information needs of intersex activist, policy-makers and general public • Development of information • Capacity Building of intersex NGOs/ community across Europe • Website in an accessible language suited for the general public and the media to make materials developed and scientifically substantiated information accessible Main Achievements • Increased capacity of intersex people for sustainable awareness raising and advocacy work • Access to first-hand knowledge on the situation of intersex people in a country • Building bridges/ facilitating exchange between intersex activists, policy makers and the general public by providing information and creating awareness • Intersex families have access to information from an equality perspective Intersex activists Outcomes • Increased capacity for awareness raising, advocacy and community building • Cross-national exchange of good practice Impact • More targeted input to legislative and policy-making processes • Increased capacity to make community voices heard in policy-making Society Outcomes • Increased knowledge amongst general public, media and professionals Impact • Growing acceptance of diversity • Decrease of social stigma and negative attitudes Closeted intersex people and families Outcomes • Increased awareness of intersex as an equality issue Impact • Better equipped to handle negative attitudes • Increased capacity to participate in society
