Objective

The End FGM European Network (End FGM EU) is an umbrella network of 32 national organisations working in 15 European countries and who are experts on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). End FGM EU operates as a meeting ground for communities, civil society organisations, decision-makers and other relevant actors at European level to interact, cooperate and join forces to end all forms of FGM in Europe and beyond. We put at the heart of our work grassroots voices to influence European governments and policy makers to work towards the elimination of FGM. The project proposed will contribute to achieving End FGM EU's 4 year Strategic Plan. Objectives - Strengthen the capacity, outreach and sustainability of End FGM EU and its Members - Reinforce the engagement and capacity of policy and decision-makers, professionals and other stakeholders to tackle FGM - Support the implementation of existing national, EU, European and international commitments and instruments - Contribute to enabling communities and community-based NGOs/CSOs to be key actors in tackling FGM - Foster and facilitate synergies and cooperation between actors in the EU and in countries of origin - Sustain End FGM EU’s role as a key EU actor in the global movement against FGM in the context of the 2030 Agenda - Increase understanding of FGM among the general public to foster citizens’ involvement in the European movement against FGM - Strengthen access to good practice and knowledge-sharing by enhancing End FGM EU’s role as the EU expert FGM knowledge and resources’ repository and exchange platform Expected results - Improved organisational capacity - Increased capacity of relevant professionals - Increased guidance on effective prevention and protection measures/programmes - A more enabling environment for community-based work - Stronger transcontinental initiatives - Strengthened partnerships with actors of diverse sectors and geographical scope - Increased public awareness of FGM.
