Description

Client: MEDGRID.

Services: ASSISTANCE TO DECISION PROCESS / Power System Development & Economics.

Tractebel Engineering has been selected by MEDGRID for the analysis of the technical feasibility of future electrical interconnections between Mediterranean countries of the Western and Eastern corridors. These interconnections should export electricity from renewable energy sources from North Africa to Europe.

The objectives of the project are to:

- determine the required reinforcements allowing power exchanges up to 3 GW in each corridor;

- select the best alternative for these interconnections;

- interact with local TSO’s to define the technical feasibility.

Medgrid has been set up to develop electrical interconnections between countries north, south and east of the Mediterranean.
