Objective:

EWoS represents this year an important moment of recovery for the Italian sport system. The Department for Sport has always been the NCB for Italy and involved in EWoS a wide number of sport partners in events set all over the country. According to studies conducted by NCB on the effects of the global pandemic, one of the most common has been the increase in physical inactivity. For 2021, the Italian NCB intends to strengthen the cooperation with all the stakeholders of the sport system (Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Sports Federations and Organizations, etc.) to spread together the message of the key role physical activities and sports have for a healthier life and for a safer future in the post-pandemic recovery, both on the health and on the economic side. EWoS 2021 will be built on the past experiences and will benefit of the innovative tools experimented in 2020 (i.e. use of new social media to involve new target groups, online conferences/webinars to involve participants and speakers all over Italy, of web radio to ensure participation of youngsters). A Digital Media Hub will be set up during the main event to ensure a comprehensive interaction with media. Though it and with the support of the Ambassadors the EWoS' message, will be spread at local and national level. The Main Event will include the #BeActive Sport Village with at least 10 different sports and the #BeActive Night and will be held at Parco del Foro Italico (Rome); other actions will be promoted all over the country. Every activity will spread the messages of the Week highlighting the commitment and the role of the European Commission. The activities, focused on the core themes of EWoS will involve other Ministries (Education and Disability to start with), Regional and Local Sports authorities, as well as different sport organisation all over Italy, to ensure the reach out of different targets (i.e. children, over 65, women, people with disabilities, marginalised and vulnerable groups).
