Objective
In line with the European Policy Centre’s (EPC) mission to defend EU values and interests and foster European integration through analysis, debate and networks, the ELEVATED project (European integration, rule of Law, citizen Engagement and common Values Amplified by Thought leadership, Exchanges and Debate) aims to empower Europe’s citizens to take part actively in the debate on the future of the European Union and help develop Europe’s public space. Overall, the project proposal is guided by the role the EPC can play as a think tank in empowering citizens’ engagement and participation, as well as facilitating policy discussions at both the EU and national level, which will strengthen European integration and democracy. The EPC has a long track-record of taking critical but constructive approaches to trans-national issues. As an independent European think tank and through its activities, the EPC can specifically answer the CERV project call’s twin objectives of (1) providing a link between research & policymaking by coming up with concrete recommendations to policy makers, and (2) facilitating interaction between scientists, academia and decision makers by bringing them together to exchange ideas and best practice. Project ELEVATED proposes a total of 12 deliverables, organised as three horizontal activities designed to engage citizens and build Europe’s public sphere, and three pillars each dealing with a different dimension of Europe’s values, policies and citizens’ rights. The 3 horizontal activities are: Defending democratic & fundamental rights; Promoting welfare and social inclusion; and Protecting the environment and climate together.
