Description

Client: Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA).

Project Manager: Peter Beard

Economic evaluation and justification of transmission and distribution investment. The investment component of the proposed Power Reform project (Power IV) includes (i) transmission connection of the World Bank supported IPP generation project, (ii) transmission system reinforcement, including second 400 kV interconnector with the Eskom system in South Africa, (iii) rural and low income electrification in selected areas using low cost technology and promoting commercial operation.

Description of Services Provided:

a)Review of planning studies, including load flow and stability studies of HV transmission network, reinforcement of sub-transmission systems, loss reduction studies at the distribution level and rural electrification master plan; b)Review of transmission planning standards c)Review of current O&M practices d)Review of investment components e)Review of the organisational aspects of the rural electrification programme and proposal for scheme to be implemented f)Preparation of economic evaluation and project justification report.
