the services
The following project parts including construction resp. reconstruction of engineered buildings are part of the external traffic development:

Extension of motorway crossing Frankfurt/Main:
    •        an additional track on the route Cologne to Karlsruhe.
    •        adaption of the bridge construction Ellis-Road.

Reconstruction of motorway access Zeppelinheim:
    •        an additional track on the route Frankfurt to the Cargo City South.
    •        a new motorway bridge on the motorway A5 caused by additional southern exits.
    •        extension of the bridge Kirschschneise.
    •        extension of the Federal motorway bridge over the Riedbahn.

Repositioning of Okriflter Street including a tunnel construction underpassing the Runway Northwest:
    •        extension and reconstruction of Okrifteler Street.
    •        a tunnel under Runway Northwest (approx. 560 m).
    •        a tunnel under rolling bridge West II (approx. 80 m).
    •        a tunnel underpassing Runway West.

Within these design tasks, the KOCKS ENGINEERS carried out all design services of the external development incl. tunnels and other constructions connected with the repositioning of Okrifteler Street and the design for operation roads for the airport.
The tunnel underpassing Runway Northwest underpasses a Federal road with 2 tracks and a runway for pedestrians and cyclists.
The construction was built in ground-water level. Between the steel piling construction an underwater concrete base is fitted with an anchorage in the ground. Within this pit a frame construction made of on-site concrete is designed. The traffic way for pedestrians and cyclists is lead within the tunnel and it is separated from the carriageway by means of protective grating. The emergency exits according to guideline RABT are leading to the portals. The aeration fans required according to the aeration certificate can be installed above the runway for pedestrians/cyclists. Further equipment can be positioned in a separate operation building.
The Runway Northwest is planned to be taken into operation in 2011 as the first section of the extension programme.
