Type of action: ERASMUS Lump Sum Grants

Project ID: 101090924

Objective:

The main objective of the project Water Sports Festival (WSF) is to introduce a multi-sport approach and add new water sports to the portfolio of the partner organizations. This is supported by the research of the negative effects of specialization in one sport, especially at younger age, such as overuse, burnout and stress related injuries. On the other hand there are numerous benefits of the multi-sport approach, from greater overall athleticism and motor skills to wider circle of social relationships and longer sport career and involvement. All 3 organizations complement each other with the waters sports they are active in and new sports they want to introduce to their portfolio. Sharks (Sweden) is active in triathlon, Sirens (Malta) is active in swimming, water polo and artistic swimming, whereas Novi Jelkovec (Croatia) is active in finswimming. Among these, finswimming, a form of swimming with the use of fins (either monofins or bi-fins), is considered to be a trendy sport and has a lot of potential to attract new members. In the scope of the project the partnering organization will share the good practice and assist each other in introducing the new sports. They will also apply the know-how gathered in ERASMUS+ Sport project “Aurora - Sport.School.Life.“ in which Sharks was a partner. The main outcome of the project is content that covers training organization, sport nutrition and administrative management of the sport clubs. This will help the newcomers to enhance day to day running of their clubs. The project will also provide the sport staff and volunteers from the partnering organizations with the skills necessary for organizing international sport events.
