OBJECT: Feasibility Study Up-Date for Programme Implementation.

It is obvious that water management in Vietnam is of particular importance, because of the different climatic premises and the increasingly extreme weather conditions. Due to low elevations in most parts of the country, any water management is demanding.
Bac Ninh Town especially suffered from:
    •        pollution of lakes, ponds and canals by sewage.
    •        infiltration of wastewater into the soil.
    •        frequent flooding due to sewers either being blocked, having insufficient capacity or being non-existent at all .
    •        connection of the sewerage system of the new residential areas to an inadequate point of discharge.

Thus, a Feasibility Study describing improvement measures had been prepared by local consultants, which was updated by KOCKS Consult GmbH.
the services
KOCKS Consult GmbH first analysed two alternatives for the sewer system, which showed that the combined system was the most favourable under the prevailing conditions.
The Feasibility Study further contained a proposal for the following measures, which include the rehabilitation of blocked and damaged sewers, the construction of additional sewers and storm water overflow structures, pumping stations and a wastewater treatment plant.
Benefits of the project measures was then: less discharge of sewage into watercourses, reduction of flooding within the Town, treatment of sewage prior to discharge - therefore in general, improvement of the overall environmental situation.
The Consultant furthermore recommended the project to be implemented in several stages.
