The construction of the new Federal Road B67n leading from Kervenheim to Appeldorn will optimize the junction between the Federal Motorway A3 and the Federal Motorway A57. The bypass via Kalkar and Goch will be dispensable.
The project road with a length of 9.5 km is included in the requirement programme for Federal trunk roads as project of urgency. The traffic prognosis for 2025 shows 17,000 vehicles per 24 hours.
The supra-regional link road B67n is classified under the Federal classification LSII. This involves the design classification EKL2 for the design of rural roads.
The KOCKS ENGINEERS were contracted by the Federal Roads Authority, Office Niederrhein-Wesel with the preparation of the design.
the services:
The alignment of the road shall be prepared according to the existing regulations (RAL). The procedure for the alignment of the Federal Road B67n is concluded and only slight changes in the positions are allowed. This imposes special consideration of the gradient in preparation of standard design elements.
The evaluation of effectivity was carried out after German legislation FGSV, part 899. According to this regulation, the appropriate development is including a profile bearing 3 lanes. According to legal conditions a standard profile of 11.5+ is valid.
The new road with a length of 9.5 km imposes a heavy impact on the existing road network. This is increased by the fact that numerous farm buildings are existing in the project area. In a former project stage, variant studies for the back side development and the reconstruction of the road network were prepared and they were agreed with the Municipalities and traffic authorities.
Drainage is effected by existing drainage channel systems. Where possible the drainage water from the carriageways is lead into central seepage systems. Based on partially sloping areas seepage channels with crossbars and rock drains are designed from economical reasons.
