Task/Delivery Order Number: 127EAS23F0018
Description: The purpose of this project is to secure services for marking and cruising timber for harvest. A portion of the project area will be leave tree marked, with an estimated 40 trees per acre. Both saw-timber class and sub-merch trees will be marked for retention. This estimate could be different depending on variations in stand density. The leave tree marked areas will be plot cruised for both saw-timber and biomass.
The remainder of the project area will be individually tree marked and cruised for saw timber. The Forest Service has estimated that approximately 30-42 trees per acre will be marked and cruised using the 3P cruising method. It is estimated that approximately 20-30 measure trees per major species will be cruised, with an estimated 5 major species present. This estimate could be different depending on variations in stand density.
The entire project will be plot cruised for biomass products. It is estimated that 4-13 trees per plot will be cruised on 75-90 plots.
Crew production rates for marking are estimated at 3-5 acres per crew member per day when applied with current prescriptions.
Multiple prescriptions range from 40-60 BA (Basal Area) to 80-120 BA per acre. A change in prescription takes place along certain identified roads within the project area map to 40-60 BA. The change in prescription is not designated on the ground. The contractor is required to determine the extent of this change based on GIS information provided by the Forest Service.
Should differences in unit boundary locations between project maps, GIS data, ground conditions, or concerns over implementation marking/cruising exist, the contractor shall promptly notify the COR.
The Forest Service estimates that the normal operating season is from April 1st to December 1st with the possibility of snow closing access roads to the project area in the later part of the season. A heavier snow year than in past seasons, has limited access to the project site. The Forest Service is monitoring area to determine when access is available.
The project area has very limited cell phone reception. Although depending on the carrier, some areas of the project area may have coverage.
