Malta is aiming to address the two core priorities of EU policy in school education : -Fostering the development of a high-performing digital education ecosystem - Enhancing digital skills and competencies for the digital transformation This will be achieved through promoting eTwinning as digital literacy within a meaningful context, because through eTwinning educators and students achieve the 21st century skills and digital competencies as laid out in the European Digital Competence Framework. We also believe that teachers, trainers and educational staff are the central focus and key in moving towards the priorities mentioned above. All this will be achieved by promoting: • eTwinning activities, ESEP and the broader Erasmus+ blended mobility through the support of our local directorate for Digital Literacy, educational policy makers and other relevant stakeholders. • Training and pedagogical support for all Educators from early childhood up to post -secondary with a view to increase both the quantity but most importantly the quality of eTwinning Projects. This will consequently bring about an increase in digital competence and transversal skills. • Priorities include: Inclusion and Diversity, Digital Transformation, Environment and fight against climate change, Participation in democratic life as well as the annual themes set out for each year. • The eTwinning School concept and empower eTwinning Schools enforcing the elements of shared leadership and collaboration. • Encourage the eTwinning concept within Initial Teacher Education (ITE) institutions and stakeholders in education policy in Malta. • Intercultural activities and inclusion reinforcing collaboration between schools from European and neighbouring countries. • Involve VET educators in eTwinning. • Strengthen ties with ECEC. • The Greener dimension, in line with the Green Deal
