Procurement Subject: Construction of a circular economy based on the production of alternative plastic materials using agricultural waste in Egypt (SATREPS) Detailed planning study (evaluation and analysis)

Purpose: This project aims to introduce a new method of effective use of agricultural waste by developing and establishing the technology to use alternative plastic materials made from agricultural waste. To solicit proposals for a consultant to participate in a technical cooperation project between Japan and Egypt, focused on environmental management and the reduction of plastic waste. Specifically, the project aims to:

  1. Develop alternatives to plastic: The consultant will help in creating new materials made from agricultural waste that can replace conventional plastic, especially in the production of food containers and other plastic products. This contributes to reducing plastic pollution, particularly in Egypt's waterways.
  2. Support waste management improvements: The project addresses the challenge of agricultural waste, which is a significant environmental issue in Egypt. By promoting the recycling of agricultural waste (such as crop residues) into useful products like biofuels, feed, and fertilizers, the project aims to reduce the harmful effects of waste burning, which currently contributes to air pollution.
  3. Contribute to Egypt's sustainability goals: The initiative is aligned with Egypt's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) under the Paris Agreement, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving waste management and supporting more sustainable practices.
