Objective: CENTENARY GAMES is an entertainment-rich sport event that includes a wide variety of TRADITIONAL SPORTS GAMES. It features games that today's parents & grandparents played as children. The project aims both to create an and to preserve what was created by previous generations as an invaluable asset of the European intangible cultural heritage. General objective: To encourage participation in sport and physical activity as a tool for health, promote traditional sports and games as intangible cultural heritage, and raise awareness on the important contribution of the sport movement to addressing major environmental challenges. We will use the MIND-BODY-SOUL connection to promote in an innovative way healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle in those different dimensions. During 3 sport events, each element will be used as competitions’ guiding topic. Physical activities related to it will form the core of the local competitions and side events. Bulgaria will host traditional sports games related to SOUL. Türkiye will host BODY challenges in a tournament and Italy – MIND games. Activities: Researching, mapping, and displaying 36 traditional games in 3 countries for 12 months, Organisation of 3 international sport events with at least 800 participants in Bulgaria and Italy and 300 in Türkiye by combining games for SOUL, MIND and BODY, Organization of 3 national initiatives to collect archival photos from Bulgarian, Italian and Turkish families depicting CHILDHOOD GAMES, publishing a book ‘’EUROPEAN GAMES FROM THE CHILDHOOD’’, with at least 36 games from all partner countries with photos and stories + educational videos. 3 exhibitions with 90 photographs, strategically located in 3 cities in the partner countries Results: Raised awareness on traditional sports and games as an invaluable asset of Europe’s intangible culture, increased physical activity in local communities and healthy lifestyle for all, increased intergenerational interaction.
