About this grant: The project goal is to support the development of community foundations in Ghana. The PureTrust Foundation LBG introduced the community foundation concept to 75 communities across Ghana since the start of the project in 2020. To date, there are 21 registered community foundations supported through the project. During the previous grant period, the grantee introduced the community foundations to the concept of endowments, connected them to global learning platforms and convened the foundations to encourage learning. Over the next grant period, the grantee will continue to: 1) strengthen existing community foundations by building their capacity to raise resources and other forms of support from their communities; 2) deepen support for endowment building and grantmaking; and 3) support networking efforts. Based in Tamale, in the northern region, the PureTrust Foundation LBG was established in 2014 to create social and economic solutions that are inclusive to the poorest communities across Ghana.
