About this grant: The Research Foundation of the City University of New York provides oversight of the management of funds obtained by faculty. The Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society manages the International Fellows Program on Community Philanthropy within the grantee’s Graduate Center. The program provides an opportunity for practitioners from around the world to learn about community foundations and the community philanthropy field. Emerging leaders and senior fellows participate in an intensive program of research, seminars and mentoring. Recently, the program hosted affinity groups led by the program’s alumni on specific topics that are identified by the fellows. Between the program’s inception in 1989 through 2023, 257 individuals from 74 countries will have benefited from the program. The program has contributed to the creation of various philanthropy-related ventures in countries such as Egypt, Nepal, Singapore, Italy, South Africa, Poland and India.
