Established in 1968, the organization conducts economic and social policy research and evaluation to understand and solve real-world challenges in a rapidly urbanizing environment. This award renews support for Urban to produce a series of publications centering jail reduction strategies in Safety and Justice Challenge (SJC) Implementation sites. Each publication has both qualitative and quantitative components and builds upon it’s prior work in developing case studies on SJC sites to generate national momentum for local criminal justice reform. Under this award, it also plans to engage in peer learning and dissemination events to ensure that lessons learned from the SJC are shared widely.
