Chicago Commitment

The organization provides high-quality dance education to youth, ages five to 18, on Chicago’s South and West Sides. The organization serves nearly 5,000 students annually, including in Chicago Public Schools. It provides in-school and after-school dance programs, and through a partnership with After School Matters, offers paid dance apprenticeships to high school students. It’s Avondale and Englewood locations offer free Saturday classes that present a conservatory-style experience and a six-week summer dance camp. This award provides general operating support to it as part of MacArthur’s Culture, Equity, and the Arts program.
