Objective:

CPH:DOX was founded in 2003 and is one of the largest cultural events in Denmark as well as one of the largest documentary film festivals in the world with 125,000+ admissions for its most recent editions, as well as more than 2,000 accredited guests for the festival, market and industry activities. The festival screens more than 200 new films over the course of 12 days, of which more than 70% are European and more than half are premieres. Parallel with the film programme, the festival continues to rethink the contemporary festival experience through a wide variety of activities: From Q&As to panels, from education to industry, and from high-profile live events to nationwide and year-round activities. CPH:DOX is active in cinemas nation-wide through the very successful Dox:Denmark initiative and through regular cinema distribution. The festival is also active year-round through the online platform paradox.dk and the youth-oriented and educational platforms UNG:DOX, Dox:Connect and the Youth Editorial Team which are designed to include and educate future generations of audiences and cultural participants. CPH:DOX is internationally recognized for a programme profile with a strong European focus that insists on documentary as an art form, while remaining dedicated to the political, social and cultural urgency of the genre. As the first major festival dedicated exclusively to documentaries in the spring, CPH:DOX provides European talent with an attractive platform to launch new work to a diverse and generally young audience. Parallel with the popular audience festival, CPH:DOX presents the international industry platforms CPH:Forum (financing, co-production), CPH:Market, and CPH:LAB (training). CPH:DOX aims to reach at least 155,000 admissions in 2026 and 170,000 in 2027, plus additional 30,000 and 40,000 for online activities, creating a total of 395,000+ admissions for the project.
